Beautification Tips
Remember to take a look at your gaslights and make any improvements necessary.  Replace any damaged mantles.  Clean or replace cloudy glass panes.  If your glass panes need replacement, please bring to them Maryanne as there are 2 sizes and simply measuring them is usually not accurate enough. Check to assure that the mantles are burning brightly.  Panes and mantles can be purchased anytime of year by calling Thomas Cochran at 281-537-6150.

For those of you who haven't had a chance to do the upkeep yet we offer the following suggestions:

·

If you need mantles or glass panes the Beautification Committee has them available all year around.

Contact Thomas Cochran at 281-537-6150.

·

If your glass panes have become cloudy, they can be cleaned with CLR or Lime Away if they are not

too far gone. Otherwise the panes will need to be replaced.  To keep your gas lights sparkling clean and have a minimum of hassle when you change panes, you might consider buying an extra set of panes. Again, if your glass panes need replacement, please bring them to Maryanne as there are 2 sizes and simply measuring them is usually not accurate enough.  After you replace the glass with clean panes, take the dirty panes and soak them in CLR or Lime Away at your leisure, then wash them in your dishwasher.  You will have clean glass ready to go when needed.

·

If your mantles are intact but a minimum of light is produced, you may need to have the gas line blown

out to remove accumulated moisture and debris.

·

If your Gaslight needs to be painted, be sure you use a paint that is rated for high temperature use.

·

If you don't have the time or inclination to do these jobs yourself, a gas products company offers this

service.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Since our gaslights are our only source of street lighting, it is important to replace broken mantles and dirty panes regularly. It makes it a safer and better looking community

New members welcome!!!!
The Beautification Committee always welcomes new members.  We need your help.  The time commitment is small, and knowledge of gardening or plants is not necessary.  We meet once a month when we choose the yard of the month.  We make and sell Fourth of July and Christmas bows twice a year.  If you are looking for a way to become a Huntwick volunteer, without a lot of time commitment -- this is the perfect spot for you.  We are an informal group and have lots of fun.  It is a good way to meet some of your neighbors and learn more about your subdivision.  We need members of all ages -- grandmothers, new mothers and in-between.  We can always use more input.  If anyone would like to share some ideas or want more information about the Beautification Committee, please call Thomas Cochran at 281-537-6150.

Note from the Beautification Committee:
We have had a request to remind everyone not to blow grass debris and leaves down sewers or on a neighbor's property. Please remind your lawn crews to properly dispose of the clippings and debris.  The sewers can trap this debris and this can be a breeding ground for mosquitos.
