Beautification
The Beautification Committee has several important responsibilities.  The most
important one is to monitor the gaslights.  Each month, beautification
members drive through the neighborhood to check whether all gaslights are in
working condition.  If the light is out, a reminder letter is mailed to that
address.  For the convenience of residents, the beautification committee sells
gaslight mantles and replacement glass panes.  The contact information for
this service is found in the index of The Herald or on the Huntwick website.
There are two sizes of glass panes, so check the measurements of the ones
you are replacing before purchasing.  The glass should be cleaned several
times a year to keep the light shining brightly.  The proceeds from the sale of
mantles and panes is used for community projects and improvements.

This committee also sells the official Christmas and Fouth of July bows that
are traditionally hung from the gaslights.  The order forms for these bows are
found in the appropriate edition of The Herald or can be purchased from the
semi-annual bow and gaslight sale held at the Huntwick Recreational Facilities
Clubhouse in June and December.  The committee arranges for the Huntwick
entrances, the Glen Erica esplanade area and the gaslights at the HRF
clubhouse to be decorated for Christmas and the Fourth of July.

Proceeds from the sale of these bows are also used for
community projects and improvements.

Another responsibility of the committee is the selection of the
Yard of the Month Award.  A beautifully landscaped yard is
chosen and a picture of that home is published in The Herald.
This responsibility is truly a pleasure as there are always
beautiful yards in Huntwick.  An award for the best decorated
yard at Christmas is also given and a picture is published in The
Herald.

The beautification committee is comprised of 12 members and is
open to any resident Huntwick homeowner.  Anyone interested
in volunteering may contact the Director of Beautification listed in
The Herald or on the Huntwick website.  The committee meets
monthly and it is a wonderful way to become involved in the
community.
